Kolkata, India native Harshita Lohia takes inspiration for her textiles from elements of nature, symbols of Indian culture and simple geometrical forms. Inspirational sketches are converted into hand drawn motifs with the various design elements then carved onto wooden blocks. Silk is hand dyed to create an even background with texture creatively layered on and the main motifs hand printed onto the silk. The end result is wearable art that represents Harshita’s rich heritage and her sensitive way of blending east and west aesthetics. More on designer Harshita Lohia
