Struck by the beauty of a Buddha statue’s curly hair one day, Zayd knew he would never be able to shake that image from his mind’s eye and got the idea for his signature collection: THE BUDHACURL collection.

The first BUDHACURL pieces were completely hand-made. He was later able to perfect his design in collaboration with a wax carver. After sketching the look of a piece, a wax model is carved to cast the piece in. The process, depending on the complexity of design, usually takes around three months.

Zayd spent his childhood in Bogor, a small town 60km Southward of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Yet, the peaceful serenity pictures of Bali were always on his mind. So he decided to move to the island soon after he graduated university. The most influential stage of life for his current career was the wonderful years he spent at the John Hardy production house. After spending time at the John Hardy production house, Zayd decided to leave the company in 2003 to start his own business.
