Each of Harshita Lohia’s textile creations starts with a thoughtfully crafted pattern. After hand-drawn motifs are created, the final design is carved into wooden blocks. Silk is hand-dyed to create an even background before any textures are created on top of it. After the diligent texture-creation process, main motifs are hand printed on the fabric. The printed fabric is then steam washed to achieve its finished look. All of Harshita’s designs and her use of color are greatly inspired by nature, manmade structures, symbols from Indian culture and simple geometrical forms. Her choice of high-quality material includes chiffon, crepe, georgette and charmeuse silk.
