Inspired by ancient textile designs, Coomi Bhasin, the Indian jewelry designer from Mumbai, creates breathtaking rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Her pieces are an unusual collection of precious and semi precious gems, rose cut and brilliant diamonds mixed with natural-colored diamonds. All of the pieces are handmade and one of a kind, created around a precious, exotic or unique gemstone and inspired by a range of experiences.
“It all begins as an idea, a vague dream, which takes form, is enhanced and comes to life through the latest techniques used in the jewelry trade”. Diverse creative influences are evident in her work. Inspired primarily by ancient textiles, Coomi's bold and intricate designs incorporate her love for historic designs as well as her "nuts & bolts" understanding of structure.
“Wearable art” says Coomi, “is how I like to think of my designs. I graduated with a textile degree from university and went on to do my thesis in jewelry. For me it was one of my most treasured memories. I traveled all over India learning all about traditional jewelry from different regions in India.” Coomi has been designing jewelry for as long as she can remember. Presenting unusual juxtapositions of precious and semi-precious stones, Coomi has created a magnificent and wearable collection of breathtaking jewelry.
